It is a magical place - I am not sure that there are proper words to describe the charm of our warm and inviting home on the Bay. The views from every room are simply breathtaking! You truly feel like you are on a ship overlooking a vast body of water; a view that is constantly changing either due to weather or by the large variety of boats. The house itself has yesteryear charm but with today's modern conveniences. It has the old rap around porch that now includes the kitchen - where your views are simply magnificent. Recently renovated, it has two stunning stone fireplaces, hardwood floors thru out. Enjoy an enclosed outdoor shower that has wonderful views of the bay. The front deck spans the entire length of the house.

Our home has three bedrooms and will sleep eight. There are two queen size beds, two singles and one double. One of the bedrooms is a huge dorm room that sleeps four.

The house is central air-conditioned and has direct T.V. The kitchen is completely equipped with a dishwasher, icemaker, and a microwave. Maid service is provide upon your departure.

The front deck overlooks the bay with plenty of chairs and lounge chairs. The deck also bodes a large picnic table, a perfect place for crab feasts or painting of shells by the children.

Imagine sipping wine or your morning coffee and watching the blue herons, our local eagles and an assortment of other birds diving for their next feast into the bay and or watching the large variety of boats travel the bay for commerce or pleasure. Or waking up in the morning to the sun rising over the bay with spectacular colors of the sky that inspires anyone to paint. And or spending countless hours fishing or crabbing or walking the 3000' of beach for fossils from the Miocene era - this is the place where special memories are made.

Our guests have made so many wonderful comments to us about their vacation at our home, but the common theme that everyone talks about is that their vacation was good for their soul. It was a special place that they were able to totally relax, enjoy family/friends and nature at its best. It is will great pride that I invite you to stay at our special, magical home on the Bay.

Chesapeake Bay Area

The Chesapeake Bay -- the largest estuary in the U.S. -- is an incredibly complex ecosystem that includes important habitats and food webs. The Bay itself, its rivers, wetlands, trees and land all provide homes, protection or food for complex groups of species. Fish of all types and sizes either live in the Bay and its tributaries or they use the waters as they migrate along the East Coast. Young crabs hide from predators in underwater grasses, while oysters filter water as they feed on plankton. The intertwined combinations of relationships are countless.

Getting There

Flights into Washington.

From the South, take the Beltway north over the Wilson Bridge and proceed approximately 5 miles. If you traveling from the North on I95, merge left onto the Beltway towards Alexandria. From either direction, exit on Route 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue), Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Follow for 28 miles at which time you will reach the town of Prince Frederick.

You will see a Safeway on the right at the traffic light intersection. Proceed on Route 4 for another 7 miles approximately. Turn left on Route 509 (Governors Run Road). Follow one block and turn right on Route 765. Turn left almost immediately onto Route 509. Follow to the end (you will see the water) and turn left up a private drive. Our house is the blue/brown shingle house with a red roof.

Rental Details

1. The house sleeps 8 people only. Our septic system will not allow for any more than this number. There can be no parties at our house that exceed this number. Violation of this rule will result in automatic termination of the lease and will require you to leave the premises immediately and without a refund. Our neighbors get extremely upset if this rule is violated and we would appreciate your consideration regarding this issue.

2. If you are bringing a dog(s), please remember to sweep after your stay so that my housekeeper does not have to clean up dog hair. Additionally, the dog(s) are not allowed on the furniture/beds. Further, never leave your dog(s) out on the deck while you are gone from the house. We experienced problems with tenants who brought their dogs, which is why we are addressing these issues. Your dogs must be on a leach at all times when outside of the home. Under no circumstance, can you bring a cat. There are simply too many people who have severe allergies to cats and it could actually be life threatening to the next tenant.

3. This is a smoke free home. Please step outside the home if you plan to smoke.

4. Please be sure not to put hot dishes/pots/pans on our granite, as it will crack. In cleaning the granite, please just use hot, soapy water, not Windex, as it will take off the finish.
