La Maison is a three storey house. The ground floor is built into the mountain making a unique reading room and cloak area. There is a shower room with washing machine and a seperate toilet.
The first floor has a kitchen/dining and sitting room with a wood burning stove and a lovely view. There is a large airy bedroom with a double bed inlaid with walnut and sleigh bed. There is a window facing south to the pyrenees and to the east to the village tower.
The second floor has a double bedroom and ensuite shower and toilet, original floor boards, beautiful bed linen and views to the Pyrenees.
La Fount is at the Gateway to the Pyrenees waiting to be explored and La Maison is the perfect place to stay in comfort.

The Midi-Pyrenees Region
Foix is in the Ariege region of the Midi-Pyrenees. It is steeped in history and the scenery is just stunning. The climate is very good with little rain. Long hot summers, majestic colours adorn the mountains in autumn and the snow peaks of winter like icing on a cake. The region is part of the Cathar legends so popular in several bestsellers and the Tour de France visits every year. Andorra for duty free shopping and a spectacular drive is about an hours drive and the Ville Rose, Toulouse is also an hour away by car or rail. There are chateaux, museums, beautful medieval sites, and always the wonderful mountains to explore.
Foix Area
Foix is the intimate medieval city, the capital of the Ariege, with its wonderful cafes, markets, restaurants and a magnificent Chateau which is open to the public. There is such a varied list of activities whether you visit in the summer or winter. Some of the more unusual points of interest include prehistoric cave paintings, wolf park, prehistoric park and one of the largest cave systems in Europe.
There is a small safe beach close by on the river Ariege where you can also use tele-ski (silent water skiing). The Ariege boasts many ski stations so there all varieties of winter sports. The list is endless.

La Maison faces South so we provide a large parasol on the terrace along with the table chairs and barabeque. The terrace does have some steps and the gite is accessed from the road by inclined footpath. La Fount is at the edge of the delightful village of Montoulieu where you feel you have stepped back in time and yet only a few kilometers from three major supermarkets and the city of Foix. A car is essential as the village is at an altitude of 650m.

La Maison is available to rent all year round. Evening meals available by arrangement with the owners in La Fount., next door to La Maison.

We have a policy of no television as there's too much else to see and do. We do provide plenty of reading material, chess and other games, a varied selection of music, barbeque with charcoal and plenty of tourist information.
We provide lovely bed linen and copious amounts of towels including beach towels, picnic basket, coolbag and thermos so you can fly and travel lightly. We also leave plenty of toiletries, even spare toothbrushes in case you forgot to pack yours.
