The Aegean Coast Region

Altinkum weather is very reliable , Long days of beautiful sunshine, and often a cool breeze - ideal holiday weather! you can pretty much guarantee blue skies, sunshine and warm water on the Aegean Coast in the summer. The coastal areas in general have milder winters compared with the U.K and very good summers, the southern coast hitting the high 30's in July and hanging around in a holiday mood until well into the autumn. 15 years ago, the people from large cities around Turkey such as Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir first came to Altinkum ("altin: gold" + "kum:sand") and started to build their own summer houses, holiday homes. when Turkey's economy started to decline those people found very hard to survive in the big cities most of the summer house owners who were mainly retired people have decided to move into the small resorts such as Altinkum. The location of today's Didim used to take part around the Apollo temple at the ancient Didyma town. they called the area "Yoran" (name derives from Yeuwani) until the biggest earthquake in 1955-1956. which used to look like "castle". but just after the earthquake government supported locals and build them modern concrete houses down on the south west part of the old civilization later on called "Yenihisar", meaning "yeni: new" + "hisar: castle".

In Altinkum you will find a great selection of waterfront bars, approx 50 in total, karaoke bars, chill out bars & family bars. There is also a good selection of nightclubs. Medusa nightclub being the popular one, The pace really picks up after dark and it can get lively in high season when the holiday spirit is in full swing.
Daytrips
Daytrips are available & there is plenty to see & do for all tastes, aqua parks, Ephesus roman ruins, Pammukale, jeep safari's, mud baths, Apollo temple in didim, scuba diving, local water parks plus many more, these trips can be made by yourself or you can use one of the local travel agents.

Prices range from as little as £184 (approx /depending on time of year and deals etc)
NB: these are charter flights and fly direct from Belfast International airport to Bodrum Airport (closest airport to Altinkum) although Izmir and Dalaman are also within driving distance. Charter Flights operate from late April to late September. Otherwise you can fly with Turkish Airlines.
Once you have booked your accommodation in the Yildirim and your flights to Turkey, I will provide you with the your transfer arrangements/pick-up.
Altinkum Homes and/or Maxi-Tours are either of the two companies that will pick you and your group up at a very competitive rate. Taxi fares from the airport (Bodrum/Izmir) in the region of £30 (up to three people)
