Imagine stepping out on to the sun terrace to have an early morning breakfast. Then sit and relax while you drink your “tasse du thé”, café or chocolat chaud and eat your deliciously fresh baguette or melt-in-the-mouth croissants, looking out over the vast plum orchard to the panoramic views of the valley.

In the evenings, take a glass of Rosé out to the patio and watch the spectacular sunset which you could imagine was laid on just for you. The fabulous starry skies are quite breathtaking. During the day, have a sleepy snooze in a hammock in the shade of the horse chestnut tree. Time seems to have little relevance here – a lazy day is a normal day.

There is a harmonious blend of old and original features with the comfort and luxury of the high standards of modern living that we have come to expect.

The huge living room has a double height pitched ceiling and is airy, bright and spacious with satellite television, a wood burning fire (you won’t need this in the summer months) and fabulous views across the valley. From here you can step out onto the vast covered terrace – perfect for catching the morning sun while you have your breakfast.

The Aquitaine/Dordogne Region

The area is famous for its bastide town (hill top fortified villages) including 13th century Monflanquin (designated one of the most beautiful villages in France and less than 10 minutes drive) , Monpazier, Villereal, Castillones and Issigeac.

Formerly part of Gasgony, the area is famed for its fois gras, confit de canard, Agen prunes and hazelnuts, not forgetting the vineyards of the many famous wine areas including Duras, Bergerac, Cahors and Buzet with St Emilion and Bordeaux a little further away

The newly completed south facing swimming pool is for your exclusive use and has beautiful views across the valley. It measures 9m x 5m and is salt water, so kinder for your skin. Fully conforms to French safety requirements. There are lights in and by the pool to allow you to swim on warm summer evenings.

Pool towels are provided, for your convenience. There are 8 sun loungers to allow you to soak up the sun and parasols to ensure you don’t get too much of it.

Carpentie Bas is available for rent all year round and has 3 main seasonal rates.

Weekly rate
Low: £800 (November to April inclusive*)
Mid: £1,200 (May, June, September, October*)
High: £1,500 (July and August)

*These are general rates for these periods. However, Christmas, New Year, Easter and other holidays (including school breaks) will be charged at a higher rate. These rates are available on request and we may be able to provide more flexibility on arrival and departure days and time. Extended bookings welcome.
