Situated on the Atlantic coast in the Vendee, La Tranche sur Mer is one of the loveliest and most unspoilt holiday destinations in France. Situated only a few degrees North of Mediterranean resorts, La Tranche offers the same annual hours of sunshine. The finest beaches in France are easy walking distance and the more adventurous can indulge in wind surfing, surf boarding, sail boarding, and water sports of every description on 9km of soft sandy beaches. La Tranche lies between Sable d'Olonne and La Rochelle and immediately to the West of the delightful Marais area (also known as the Venise Verte, or Green Venice). It is sheltered by the historic island of Ile De Re which protects it from the Atlantic Ocean, giving it excellent safe bathing.
