Kennedy Park and Arboretum, The National Heritage Park, Tintern Abbey, Dunbrody Abbey & Maze, Duncannon Fort and Loftus Hall, Dunbrody Famine Ship at Newross all of which are only a short drive away. The Hook Head lighthouse.
Hook Lighthouse is a unique example of an almost intact medieval lighthouse. It dates from the early 13th century and was a major feat at the time of its construction.Purpose built as a lighthouse, it has served sailors and shipping for 800 years, apart from a short closure during the 17th century. It is thought to be one of the oldest operational lighthouses in the world. When the Tower of Hook became fully automated in 1996 and no longer needed resident keepers, it was decided to celebrate its uniqueness by opening it to the public.
Hook Head wild and elemental, tranquil and serene, in its serenity hides the treachery which awaits unsuspecting mariners, little wonder that William Marshal earl of Pembrokeshire undertook the building of the lighthouse in the early 13th century as a navigational aid to guide his ships into Waterford Harbour. The tower has close affinities to Marshal castles at Ferns, at Kilkenny and at Pembroke in Wales. It appears to have been modelled on freestanding, cylindrical stone keeps known as "Juliets" which were popular in Wales and France during the early 13th century
The Hook Lighthouse and Café is a favorite tourist attraction, with guided tours daily from 10am to 4pm

Whale Watching at Hook Head
The Hook Head may well challenge West Cork as one of Europe's premier 'whale watching' destinations following the latest arrival of 'Bingo'. That's according to the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group (IWDG), which is closely following the movements of the humpback since his high profile arrival.'Bingo', as he is known locally, has been at the centre of media focus after he breached clear of the water off Hook Head in spectacular style 11 times over a 45-minute.The magnificent humpback is feeding in the waters off the Hook Peninsula and Pádraig Whooley, IWDG sightings coordinator, is advising whale watchers to head to Hook Head to try to catch a glimpse of 'Bingo – Visit www.iwdg.ie

Scuba Diving
During the summer months Hook Head offers some of the best boat diving in the country on sites such as the Girl Arleen, Western Rock and Three Mile Rock. Couple this with the fact that it is only three hours from Dublin and you have a recipe for a great trip! Make no mistake though, Hook Head is not only for the summer months: it has some really good shore diving which can be experienced all year round and is also perfect for less experienced divers.
Should you need any help the Hook Sub-Aqua club have their clubhouse not far from Slade Harbour and have offered the use of compressors, clubhouse facilities, tractors, guided tours etc many times over the years. So in summary, they're a lot like the A-team, they're great and provided you can find them they will never see you stuck in Hook Head.

The Saltee Islands
The Saltee Islands lie about 5km South of Kilmore Quay which is 23km from Wexford at the end of the L29. The islands are renowned for their bird life and it is a sanctuary. As they are situated at the South Eastern corner of Ireland tidal currents affect diving in the area and it is only advisable to dive during slack water.
Kilmore Quay is a busy fishing port and holiday area with good all weather launching slips, toilet facilities and parking. Boats may be chartered, but the islands can be dived by an independent , well equipped and led group.
