The Algarve Region

Portugal’s southernmost region known as the Algarve has established itself as a firm favourite holiday destination for people from all over Europe as well as the rest of the world. This is due mainly to its almost tropical climate boasting over 3000 hours of annual sunshine. With its stunning long sandy beaches, majestic cliff facings, secret coves and caves contrasting with the inland of mountains, almond blossom covered hills and quaint hidden towns the Algarve has something to offer for everyone.

There are many major attractions for all the family to enjoy including Zoo Marine (where you can swim with the dolphins), horse riding on the beach and some brilliant fun filled water parks all within a half hour drive of the house - Aqualand and Slide & Splash being the most popular. The parks all provide buses that will transfer you to and from the Parks.

Locally there is golfing, tennis, horse riding and a sports facility. If you want to get away from the coast for the day then a drive to Monchique and Foia (the highest point of the Algarve) is highly recommended. On the way you could visit the castle in Silves and stop for lunch of chicken Piri-Piri in the small mountain town of Monchique. It will take you less than an hour to get there.

Two large shopping centres are 'Algarve Shopping' in Guia and 'The Forum' in Faro just 20-30 minutes by car. The Algarve Shopping is a large mall which is approx. 15 minutes drive away. Here you will find a variety of shops, a big supermarket, a bowling alley, a multi-screen cinema (most films are in English with Portuguese sub titles) and a food hall.

Alternative ways of exploring the Algarve are by joining one of the many jeeps that head out each day (high season) to explore the unspoilt Algarve. This is a great day out for the family and will pick up and drop off in the area.

There are great boat trips leaving from both Albufeira and Vilamoura marinas every day. You can choose from a full or a half day and this can often include a trip into the caves and grottoes of the beautiful Algarvian coast line. If you fancy a drive into Spain then the border is only a 50 minute drive and Seville approx two hours depending on traffic.

As the Algarve spans a large area with wonderful sights and attractions, car hire is highly recommended to explore, but not essential for this villa as there are a number of good restaurants and bars within walking distance and the beach is a 5-6 minute walk away. Taxis are reasonably priced. Transfers can also be arranged for you if requested.

 

Albufeira Area

This area offers great holiday opportunities throughout the year with golf courses, water sports, shopping, beaches and a huge variety of restaurants. Areias Sao Joao, offers many shops, bars, restaurants and clubs, many of which are situated on the 'The Strip' which runs from Montechoro to the beach at Praia da Oura.

For many visitors the golden sandy beaches and the vibrant nightlife of Albufeira here provides the perfect holiday ingredients. The nearest golf course is Balaia Golf which is situated in the lovely Eulalia area of Albufeira.

Children and teenagers on holiday in Albufeira will enjoy the Zoo Marine centre at Guia, as well as the English-Language cinemas, bowling, the lovely park 'Slide and Splash' in Lagoa is a fun day out for all the family with separate area for very young children to enjoy.

Zoo Marine is based in Guia a short car/bus ride. Zoo Marine features tropical bird shows, and aquarium, fairground rides and swimming pools surrounded by beautiful lakes and gardens.

Old town Albufeira is about 1km away. There is a mixture of the historic and the traditional flavour of the Algarve with cobbled streets and picturesque leafy town squares, plus a great variety of restaurants, bars and shops.

The beach at Praia d'Oura offers a wide variety of water sports including windsurfing, water-skiing, parascending, jet skis and the always popular, banana boat ride whilst scuba diving can be found in the next cove along.

Many boat trips depart from Prais D'Oura which is a great way to explore the hidden grottoes of the stunning Algarve coastline - and there are plenty of fishing trips available. There are many smaller quieter coves to be found around Praia d'Oura, around Albufeira that can be reached on foot along the coast. There are wonderful clifftop paths along the Algarve coast in both directions which can be taken.

 

Getting There

We are flexible with arrival days as a lot of the low cost airlines fly mid week. Check in time is 3pm and check out 11am but again this is also flexible and will be advised accordingly.

Fly to Faro from Dublin with Ryanair or Aerlingus
Fly to Faro from Belfast with Aerlingus or Easyjet

We can arrange for a taxi or minibus transfer to meet you from the airport.
It takes approx. 40 mins to the Apartment from Faro Airport.

Car hire is not essential for this apartment unless you are planning to explore the Algarve. Car Hire is available at Faro airport and we can also arrange this from Faro Airport for you or if you prefer it can be delivered locally.

Guests are kindly requested not to smoke inside the apartment but to use the balconies or outside facility areas.

Cot and highchair can be arranged - €10 per week for a cot and €15 per week for a highchair.

A Mid Stay clean with linen and Towel change is provided for all bookings of more then 7 days. Extra Cleaning can be arranged at a cost - please request on booking.

Sorry no pets are allowed.

Guests are asked to bring their own beach towels please.

This is a very large modern apartment. The lounge/diner is beautifully decorated with wooden floors, air-conditioning/heating, with 2 large leather sofas, arm chair and a modern dining suite with patio doors leading to a balcony perfect for relaxing and watching the sun go down! It is equipped with a TV/Satellite and a DVD player. A superb kitchen with built in appliances, oven, hob and stainless steel hood, large fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washer/dryer and seating for 4. The two double bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and dressing tables with air-conditioning/heating. The smaller twin bedroom has air-conditioning/heating. The master bedroom has large an-suite and the apartment has also a spacious family bathroom. A hairdryer is available also. Baby chair and cots are provided. The apartment has its own 2 private sun beds situated on the balcony off the master Bedroom.

There is Lift access, air-conditioning/heating electric aluminum shutters to all windows and patio doors. This apartment is situated on the second floor and has balconies overlooking gardens with pool and sea views.

This Apartment went way behond our expectations! It beautifully decorated with all you need for a family on a self catering holiday. The location suited us as we did not want to hire a car - here we could walk to the beach and restaurants ! Brillant holiday and we will be back !

Just back from a fantastic holiday at Parque do Corcoavada Albufeira. The property can only be described as stunning! It was much bigger then we expected and the kids (teenagers!) just loved the fact that we were so need to the "Strip" so they could meet up with their friends - A Fab holiday ! Thank you

We did enjoy our stay everything went so smoothly.The apartment is beautiful and so spacious and clean I would describe it as a palace! You were both very helpful nothing seemed to be too much trouble for either of you.
