The Northern France Region

Located in the North East of France, Alsace borders Germany. The eastern slopes of the Vosges mountains. Although there is heavy industry the countryside and villages are very beautiful. The region also has excellent wines and a renowned traditional cuisine. There is a strong local dialect which is still spoken, a mixture of French and German.

The Alsace region has managed to preserve its ancestral traditions with its medieval castles rising up above the plain, a wealth of Renaissance and Neo-Classical architecture, varied gastronomy and original folklore. It also has some of the most famous vineyards in France, including its Wine Route.

Alsace Area

Ideally located on the Wine Road, Eguisheim is inaccurately considered to be a simple offshoot of the city of Colmar. The uniqueness of this city, which dates back to the Middle Ages, lies in the winding streets which are abundant with flowers as well as in the beauty of the surrounding countryside. The quality of the services that the local hotels and restaurants offer favorise long stays. To fully enjoy your visit to this ancient city, one must be aware of its fascinating history.

# The Alsace Ecomuseum: The Alsace Ecomuseum is now one of the largest in Europe, and its doors open onto the history of our forebears. The dominant themes of the museum are life and work in the village, at the factory, and in the 19th and 20th centuries; agriculture, husbandry and viticulture can be found side-by-side with traditional village craft trades and mining.
# National Automobile Museum- Schlumpf Collection: the exceptional quality results both from the vehicles and the makes included in the collection.
