Although just 5 minutes walk to the main square in Malestroit, Le Chat Noir is set in a quiet tree lined avenue. There is plenty of room to park outside but a car is not needed to enjoy the local retaurants and bars as they are just a short walk away. Malestroit is a beautiful little town with good shopping, walks along the Nantes/Brest canal and
the 'Green Way', an old railway line, and it is a convenient location to enjoy the Gulf of Morbihan area. Roads to the coast are excellent and not very busy even at the height of the summer. The surrounding countryside is a
mixture of rolling hills and woodland and there are some lovely little villages to visit such as Rochfort en Terre and La Vraie Croix where the residents turn their village into a veritable flower show with window boxes and other displays in the summer months.

The Brittany Region

Malestroit, a 'Petite Cite de Caractere' is situated on the banks of the River Oust and the Nantes-Brest canal and is a convenient base from which to explore the Morbihan area. The coast is 20 minutes drive away and there is a lake for swimming at the renowned village of Rochfort en Terre, which is just 10 minutes away. The Morbihan region is ideal for walking, cycling, fishing or exploring the beautifully preserved towns and villages surrounding the Gulf of Morbihan. There is a good choice of lovely uncrowded soft sandy beaches as well as castles and chateaux to visit.

The bright, colourful sun lounge, overlooking the garden and open to the kitchen, was a favourite spot for breakfast and lazy afternoons. With a large, comfortable lounge and bright dining room, the house offers space and flexibility. Malestroit is a lovely small town, and the canal provides a great focal point. Access to surrounding towns, villages and the coast is excellent."
