The Algarve Region

Think of the Algarve and you think of sunshine breaks and relaxing holidays. You imagine golden beaches on the coast of calm sea waters, sun-kissed tourists relaxing and sampling the delights that this wonderful region of Portugal has to offer.

Everywhere you go, you are surrounded by bright colours, from the golden sands, to the crystal clear waters, the clear blue skies, the vivid green grass, and the white-washed walls of the buildings in the Algarve's old towns.

Albufeira is not just the “Tourist Capital” in Portugal. It is a fantastic playground with a big variety of activities on offer to suit all tastes.

Tourism began to flourish from the 1960's and continues to evolve and expand even into the present day. Thanks to an ever-growing tourist industry, Albufeira has become one of the most desired holiday destinations in Europe.

As the number of tourists continued to climb, Albufeira created new suburbs in order to build the necessary quality accommodation and install the accompanying luxury services they require. 'Montechoro', 'Areias de São João' and the famous 'Oura' areas have became new centres of attraction for visitors. Meanwhile, the 'Old Town' maintains it's charm and atmosphere. More recently, the new Marina has also extended the town’s development.

Albufeira receives a considerable percentage of the 5 million tourists who visit the Algarve annually. The frenetic summer season now extends into the rest of the year, for visitors of all ages and from all over the world. During the quieter months, even January & February, tourists still travel to Albufeira.

Its extraordinary climate, with more than 3000 hours of sunshine per year and the friendly charm of its people persuade many foreigners to move residence to the region, either temporarily or permanently. More and more people select Albufeira as their favourite destination because of its multiple attractions, i.e. the lively and social night-life, the beautiful beaches, varied water sports, golf courses, glorious countryside and the local cuisine.

 

Albufeira Area

Activities in the area:
The range of activities in or near Albufeira is fantastic. This list is only an indication of what is on offer; water parks (3), horse riding, jeep safari, golf, karting, quad bikes, diving, jet-ski, banana-boat, parasailing, paintball, tennis, bowling, 10 pin bowling and open-air markets. And that just for day time!

At night enjoy live music in many bars and hotels, romantic dinners in cosy restaurants, fast food restaurants, karoke, quiz competitions and night clubs. Children are welcome at many restaurants and bars until late. Many shops & stalls stay open late.

Coast/Beach:
The complex shares the seafront with other hotels in the immediate vicinity. The quality and safety of the beaches has been rewarded with a high number of blue flags. Check out the ‘interactive beach guide’ on ‘albufeira.com’ for pictures on all the beaches mentioned above.

Golf:
There are more than 30 golf courses on the Algarve. Since Albufeira is right in the middle of the Algarve, it is the perfect place to stay. Local courses include Pine Cliffs, Salgados and Balaia. Vilamoura offers some of the best courses in the world (Millennium, Victoria, Old Course, Laguna, Pinhal, etc.) and is only about 15 minutes by car.

 

Getting There

Fly to Faro with Aer Lingus or Ryanair. Charter flights are also available with several tour operators. Flights are available most days all year round. From April to October you may have several flights to choose from.

Travel time to Albufeira is about 30 minutes by taxi. Save money by using an airport transfer (€30 euro each way for a group of up to four). Distance is about 35km.

Car hire is only necessary for those days when you want to tour the Algarve. Because this apartment is located between the Old Town and the famous 'Strip', almost everything is nearby.

Taxi's in Albufeira are normally plentyful and fares are frequently less than €5.

Rental Details

Booking notes:
Prices are for the property per week in Euro or UK pounds sterling as indicated. Minimum accepted price for shorter stays is €220 / £200.

Monthly rates for winter lets are available. No utility bills. Rates from €600 /£500 per month.

Deposit of 20% (minimum £100 or €110) payable to secure booking with the complete balance to be paid no less than 6 weeks before arrival. A refundable cash deposit of €200 (to cover accidental damage to property and/or equipment) must be paid upon arrival. The refundable deposit (less any reasonable deduction for damages) will be refunded upon departure. Payments can be made by personal cheque, bank transfer (IBAN/BIC/Swift) or bank draft.

Accessibility:
The apartment is located on the second floor and is only accessible by stairs.
The local beach also has 20 steps.

Guests are greeted upon arrival at the complex. No hard sell on outings.

Electricity is 220V / 50Hz (similar to UK and Ireland but remember to being some 2 pin adaptor plugs).

Changeover day:
Owner will be as flexible as possible. Note that apartment the must be vacated by 10am on departure day to facilitate cleaning. However, late departures may be permitted where possible, subject to availability.

The apartment is cleaned, towels & linen changed once weekly (or more often for an additional charge).

No beach towels are provided so guests should bring their own.

No smoking inside apartment please. (The balcony is a nice place to have a smoke.)

The swimming pools and tennis courts are shared facilities for the complex and not accessible to the public.
