“Lovely cottage with stunning views and private pier area.”
Blue Charm Cottage is a special place to stay. From the moment we arrived we were struck by what was indeed a very 'charming' and comfortable home with amazing views. We were greeted by Cathy the owner who was very friendly and welcoming. Some lovely touches awaited us, milk and bottled water in the fridge, a bottle of wine and chocolates and even Easter eggs for the children! The living room and all three bedrooms have views over Lough Corrib. The garden is lovely with seating to make the most of the views and then sloping down to a road which cannot be seen from the cottage. We crossed the road with Cathy and walked down a very short track which takes you down beautifully landscaped flowering borders and steps to decking and then to the private pier- wow! What a stunning spot. Perfectly peaceful but for birdsong and water lapping at the shore. The summer house or elevated decking area are lovely places just to sit and take in the view, sunbathe or enjoy your lunch or bbq. This is an amazing facility which left us quite speechless. We found the cottage had all we could need, comfortable beds and seating , super showers and that amazing view, the private pier area was the icing on the cake. My parents and our three young children loved it as much as my husband and I and we highly recommend a stay in this lovely place.
A little piece of Nantucket in Ireland”
Blue Charm delightul! We really enjoyed our stay here, service from Cathy was excellent from first enquiry to departure. The Cottage has beautiful views and is well laid out we stayed in the bedroom downstairs and awoke to the singing of a blackbird at our window and incredible view across the Lough. An evening by the fire in the sitting room is amazing and along with a wonderful selection of books to choose from and view across the lake what can I say.... perfect. But thats just the house - second treat is the boathouse a short walk across the road and down a private walkway reveals a secret little paradise of terrace gardens and walk to waters edge very secluded quite and peaceful. This is fantastic base for a family holiday. There is a private boatway - and we hired a boat for a couple of days and explored the many islands. We will be back to Blue Charm to recharge the batteries! Thanks Cathy
“Stunning, serene perfection!”
The moment you pull into the hilly driveway at this hard-to-find masterpiece near Clonbur, you get the feeling that you've stumbled upon pure magic. My friend, you're correct. Blue Charm is more of a sensory experience than a place to sleep. It's where you go to find yourself again when you're lost, where you go to bask in things like a roaring fire, reading a book, sitting on a serene private pier drinking coffee, or play board games with your family in pure, rugged luxury.
Do rugged and luxury contradict one another? Not at Blue Charm. Here's the rugged:
-Built near the shores of Lough Corrib, a salmon fishing wonderland.
-Hot water tanks are to be turned on and off daily as needed.
-No telephone
-Several miles from town.
-Not really next door to anybody, though you're only a minute or two drive away from others.
Now, HERE'S the luxury:
-Spectacularly furnished and laid out houseplan.
-3 bedrooms, each with a private bath
-EVERYTHING is provided, from all cooking and kitchen items to a private SUMMER HOME SEPARATE FROM THE MAIN HOUSE so you have a little extra "place of your own" for the week.
-A 3-tiered, beautifully landscaped deck area with lots of outdoor furniture, bbq equipment, and several picnic tables.
-Wi-Fi, TV, DVD, stereo and all other 21st century "necessities"
The owner, Cathy Keane and her husband are true ambassadors of their country. They're eager to show you around, get you acquainted, leave you with a welcoming gift, answer any questions, then leave you to your Irish paradise to fully enjoy at your own pace. We had a pretty major problem with a computer during our stay (NOT their fault at all), and Cathy drove more than 3 hours from her home near Dublin to help rectify the situation. She left us little gifts (bottle of wine, box of gourmet chocolates, firestarting kits and more) and was always available to be gotten ahold of.
I cannot,...I must stress the word CANNOT recommend this place with any more enthusiasm or admiration! If it were feasible to give a location 6, or even 7 stars, I'd be first in line to sign the petition. I stay in motels over 150 nights a year on business, plus we've vacationed numerous times in Hawaii, France, Italy, the Caribbean, California, and Canada. This is likely the finest accomodations, with the best view, best preparation, and most care to getting the little details right that I've ever had the blessing of staying at. It's expensive, but a bargain for what you get.
What, exactly, is tranquility worth to you
“Relaxation from start to finish!”
This holiday was perfect. Breathtaking views, peaceful location and a clean, comfortable house. Cathy the owner welcomed us on arrival, fresh flower arrangements in all the rooms, bottle of wine and chocolates..... just lovely. The garden areas are beautiful with the boat house and pier an added bonus. Although, not catching any fish there was a few that "got away"04 Oct 2011
“The Holiday”
Our vacation at Blue Charm Cottage surpassed our expectations. The house was beautiful inside and out. The flowers were blooming in the garden and the view was amazing. We enjoyed every moment staying there and plan on staying longer next time. It is a good place to have as a base while you visit historic locations and beautiful small towns in the area. The stone work down to the boat house with all its rock and stone was in keeping with the setting of the area. The owner was so accommodating and prepared the house for our arrival with the fireplace blazing. We loved it.
Great walks and beaches a short car journey away. We all had a fantastic time.
