The Algarve Region

Portugal’s southernmost region known as the Algarve has established itself as a firm favourite holiday destination for people from all over Europe as well as the rest of the world. This is due mainly to its almost tropical climate boasting over 3000 hours of annual sunshine. With its stunning long sandy beaches, majestic cliff facings, secret coves and caves contrasting with the inland of mountains, almond blossom covered hills and quaint hidden towns the Algarve has something to offer for everyone.

To explore this region of Portugal and take in its charm you will need to come back time and again exploring the seemingly endless coastline and its most beautiful beaches. To venture only a few miles inland, you can lose yourself in the heritage and history of the Algarve. The Algarve really is a European paradise, and for that reason you want to make sure you get to know it properly.

The water parks are within easy reach - Aqualand and Slide & Splash being the most popular. The parks all provide buses that will pick up you up and return locally. If you want to get away from the coast for the day then a drive to Monchique and Foia (the highest point of the Algarve) is highly recommended. On the way you could visit the castle in Silves and stop for lunch in the small mountain town of Monchique. It will take you less then an hour to get there.

Alternative ways of exploring the Algarve are by joining one of the many jeeps that head out each day (high season) to explore the unspoilt Algarve. This is a great day out for the family and will pick up and drop off in the area.

As Guia is ideally situated only 10 mins drive from Albufeira there are plenty of great boat trips leaving from Albufeira marina everyday. You can choose from a full or a half day and this can often include a trip into the caves and grottoes of the beautiful Algarvian coast line.

 

Albufeira Area

This area offers great holiday opportunities throughout the year with golf courses, water sports, shopping, beaches and a huge variety of restaurants. Areias Sao Joao, offers many shops, bars, restaurants and clubs, many of which are situated on the 'The Strip' which runs from Montechoro to the beach at Praia da Oura.

For many visitors the golden sandy beaches and the vibrant nightlife of Albufeira here provides the perfect holiday ingredients. The nearest golf course is Balaia Golf which is situated in the lovely Eulalia area of Albufeira.

Children and teenagers on holiday in Albufeira will enjoy the Zoo Marine centre at Guia, as well as the English-Language cinemas, bowling, the lovely park 'Slide and Splash' in Lagoa is a fun day out for all the family with separate area for very young children to enjoy.

Zoo Marine is based in Guia a short car/bus ride. Zoo Marine features tropical bird shows, and aquarium, fairground rides and swimming pools surrounded by beautiful lakes and gardens.

Old town Albufeira is about 1km away. There is a mixture of the historic and the traditional flavour of the Algarve with cobbled streets and picturesque leafy town squares, plus a great variety of restaurants, bars and shops.

The beach at Praia d'Oura offers a wide variety of water sports including windsurfing, water-skiing, parascending, jet skis and the always popular, banana boat ride whilst scuba diving can be found in the next cove along.

Many boat trips depart from Prais D'Oura which is a great way to explore the hidden grottoes of the stunning Algarve coastline - and there are plenty of fishing trips available. There are many smaller quieter coves to be found around Praia d'Oura, around Albufeira that can be reached on foot along the coast. There are wonderful clifftop paths along the Algarve coast in both directions which can be taken.

 

Getting There

Property is appox approximately 40 minutes drive from Faro Airport.

Flights are available from UK major and budget airlines who fly into Faro daily. Alternatively fly to Lisbon or Seville (approx. 2-3 Hour Drive)

Directions to the Apartment will be provided on confirmation of booking, the route is well sign posted. Car hire is not essential.

All windows have electric shutters, which operation individually. The communal areas are secure and the pool area is large with sun beds and umbrellas. The apartments large private garden offers space to relax

 

Rental Details

This accommodation is most suitable for families and couples.

Cot and highchair are available on request and there is a weekly charge of €10 for a cot and €15 for a highchair.

Sorry no pets are allowed.

Guests are asked to bring their own beach towels please.

Guests are kindly requested not to smoke inside the house but to use the outside areas.
Welcome packs can also be provided upon request.

Car hire and Airports Transfers can be arranged.
Check in time is 3pm and check out 11am but this is flexible and will be advised accordingly.

A Mid Stay clean is provided with linen and towels change for all bookings of 10-14 nights. Extra Cleaning can be arranged at a cost, please request when booking.
