Kilkenny City Area
Kilkenny, the "Marble City" - medieval capital of Ireland - gets its name from its many outstanding historical and civic buildings which are constructed from local black limestone. Kilkenny Castle and Gardens, St. Canice's Cathedral, Rothe House Museum and Garden, the National Craft Gallery, Kilkenny Design Centre, St. Mary's Cathedral and the Butler Art Gallery are some of the city's attractions that have made it one of the most visited places in Ireland. Each year thousands of visitors come to Kilkenny to enjoy its wide variety of festivals, theatres, restaurants, shops, pubs and nightlife. Whether your taste is to climb a 9th century Round Tower, take a guided road-train tour of the city, go clubbing in one of its many night clubs or strolling in the beautiful grounds of Kilkenny Castle Park, you are sure to find enjoyment and satisfaction in the Marble City.

Guest Book
"Kilkenny is one of Ireland's most beautiful medieval cities. Narrow streets, a great castle on a hilltop and many old buildings make it a lot of fun to stroll around"
http://www.world66.com/europe/ireland/kilkenny
"Not just famous for its well-preserved past, Kilkenny is also well-known as the host of festivals like the hugely popular Kilkenny Cat Laughs comedy festival. The annual Kilkenny Arts Festival is another well-liked event here. Live music and theatre are also well-represented here with numerous venues to be found across the city" http://www.boo.com/kilkenny
"Winding cobbled streets and carefully restored or tastefully adapted shop-fronts and buildings give Kilkenny city a unique atmosphere that is worth savoring... For historical interest, nightlife, and relaxed often-beautiful surroundings, Kilkenny and the surrounding district are worthy of inclusion in any tour of Ireland"
