Highfield House is located in its own private wood, commanding views of the Wicklow Mountains beyond. This is a beautiful restful location from which you can enjoy many day trips to a variety of historical sites, and a short journey will take you to other surrounding counties such as Kilkenny, Kildare, Wicklow and Laois.
The house consists of five spacious bedrooms, three of them double and en-suite. The other two rooms share a bath room and have two single beds in them, with room for more!
The main bathroom is marble tiled and you can relax in our Jacuzzi bath. The master bedroom has full en-suite facilities and has a balcony where you can enjoy your morning coffee from while watching the sun rise!
The kitchen is open plan so that whoever is cooking can enjoy conversation with their friends and family as they relax in the open dining room and lounge. We also have flat screen TV. Internet and all the mod cons to facilitate a relaxing break. Outside is a large patio tiled area and garden to enjoy.
The house may entice you to just relax, take in the views, stroll in the woods or enjoy a quiet pint in our local pubs.
But if you're looking for further entertainment, Carlow is just a five minute drive away, and here you'll find top class restaurants, great shopping bars and nightclubs.

The Carlow Region
Carlow has always carried her mysteries along her rivers, waterways winding gently through rolling valleys. The legacy of it's historic past can be seen in it's pagan sites, it's early Christian settlements and magnificent Georgian country homes and gardens and picturesque towns and villages. Go walking/hiking in any of the many "sli na slainte" walk ways. Golf at either Carlow golf club or the wonderful Mount Wolsey or the numerous other golf clubs around Carlow and don't forget the world class Mount Juliet in Kilkenny. Take time out to stroll around Altamont Gardens, known as the jewel in Ireland's crown. There are many more attractions around Carlow to enjoy.
A walk around the medieval city of Kilkenny is a must. Explore its ancient laneways or wonder at the majestic halls of Kilkenny Castle or experience the glory of the 13th century Canice’s Cathedral.
The county of Kilkenny is rich in heritage and natural beauty .Visit Kells Priory, Woodstock estate, Castlecomer Demesne or take a trip down the stunning Dunmore caves.
Ballickmoyler Area
The village of Ballickmoyler will bring visitors back in time as they stroll along quite road ways and relax in the local pubs nearby.
The village of Killeshin just 2 KM’s away is the site of an important medieval monastery. At the site of the monastery you can see one of the finest Romanesque doorways dating from the 12t century.
Further up the hill you will be rewarded with magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.
Just outside Carlow town visit the largest dolmen in Europe, Browneshill Dolmen. This historical site dates back to around 3300-2900 B.C.
Getting There
- You can fly to Dublin (one hour and 15 mins ) and Waterford (1 hour).
- Ferries are available from Rosslare (one hour and a half) .
- There are also many good car hire companies at the airports.

The land on which the house stands is part of our own farm so there is loads of space for children to run around in and explore. There is also access to a large wooded area which is lovely to hike in.

-Bankers cheque or bank transfer is acceptable.
- The house will be cleaned before guests arrive and when they leave, but we would ask that respect would be shown, such as putting the garbage in the main bin and treating the house and garden with care.
