The Algarve Region

Directions to Apartment

The apartment is near the Marina Club Hotel. At the roundabout immediately before the Marina Club, go straight through and take the next left turn {30 yards}. Go up the hill about 300 yards and take a left turn {just after pool on right}. Go to top of the hill and apartment is last building on the left. When you enter the building, the apartment is on the left {ground floor}. Blinds are manual so just pull them up.


Shopping

Mini-market
About 2 minutes away. Go out front door of apartment block and turn left. Walk up to the road and turn right. Cross the road and shop on the left. It’s a bit more expensive as it’s geared towards tourists, but its close by. They have freshly baked rolls all day ~ It’s open from 8.00 to 8.00 {incl. Sunday}

Pingo Doce Supermarket
About 7 minutes away. Go out front door and turn left. When you get to the road cross over and there is a little slip road a bit to the right. Walk down the hill to the main road (bit of a slog coming back) and cross over. Bear right and then turn left at the roundabout ~ 50 cent for trolley.

Swimming

Marina Club Hotel - When you go out of the apartment you can turn either left or right. If you go left go to road and turn left. Go to bottom of hill and cross over ~ go straight ahead and hotel is on your right.
If you go right out of apartment go to bottom of hill and turn right. Go to bottom of the hill and cross over. Cut through car park and you will see hotel in front of you.

Beach - Go out of the apartment and turn right and then right again & take option A or B below:

Option A. When you get to the bottom of the hill turn left and cross over the road. Keep walking till you come to a round-a-bout or a fence {it depends on your route} If you hit the roundabout go right & then left toward the fence ~ there’s a gap in it. Go through gap & follow the right path to another gap in a fence. Here you can walk straight across the railway line or go about 40 yards left & do the same thing.

Option B. When you get to the bottom of the hill turn right and cross over the road. Walk through the car park towards the Marina but turn left once you pass the train station. Follow the road to the beach past the boatyard on your right.

The wind picks up in the afternoon nearly every day which is what makes Lagos so pleasant, but on the beach this becomes a bit of a problem. Without some sort of wind guard you basically get sandblasted if you try to lie on the beach. It’s very exhilarating if you’re walking but a right pain if you’re trying to sunbathe.

Marina

To get to marina go past Marina Club Hotel & turn right or you can continue towards the train station & cut through a small pathway to the marina

Town centre

To get to the town follow the path around the marina and you will see a pedestrian draw bridge ahead of you. Cross the bridge and turn left. Walk along the promenade beside the river{the Avenida dos Descobrimentos} or cross over and walk by estate agents and restaurants etc. Continue on till you come to a square and that is the starting point to the centre of the beautiful town of Lagos.

 

Lagos Area

Simply deciding how you wish to spend your time here is a pleasure, from a leisurely day in town or on the beach, to visiting places of interest and shopping.

If it is sports and outdoor activities that you desire there is golf, swimming, surfing, kayaking, sailing, boat trips, dolphin watching, grotto tours, fishing, jet skiing, windsurfing, jeep safaris, riding, tennis, snorkelling & micro-light or light plane flights from the nearby Lagos aerodrome just to mention a few.
